Hi there, I’m a 47 year old (middle-aged) mom with two grown up children, both studying at University. Teacher by day and writer by night, I was inspired to start this blog when I was researching diet, life with an empty nest and coping with middle-age. After ploughing for hours trying to find something that I could relate to, I found a void. There didn’t seem to be anything for people like me – perhaps I’m just a bit weird.

I’ve been married for 25 years and we have been together for 30 years. We were fairly young parents (which amongst our friend-ship group is very unusual). Our eldest was born when I was twenty-four, and the youngest when I was twenty-seven. Quite a few of our friends have toddlers or young teenagers whilst ours are fully blown adults, which could be really depressing, but we think it’s great. All those years feeling a little bit jealous about the money, fancy holidays and stuff our friends without children had, has now turned topsy-turvy and they are now jealous of us because we will (hopefully) be around to see our grandchildren. I know some of our friends are worried they might not see their children reach 21. As you get older it seems clear that your priorities change and it is no longer about money, holidays and stuff, but life’s encounters and events.

Anyway – I hate writing about myself so you will find this blog filled with all kinds of (I hope) interesting stuff like recipes, crafts, places to visit, things to do, poetry, stories and ideas.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I will enjoy sharing it!

Please be kind!!
